Hwang-Cheol is a former warrior of the Northern Heavenly Sect. Self defense is the extent of his martial arts, and as such, he was the weakest warrior in the sect. However, he is unmatched in his devotion and loyalty towards the sect. Even after the dissolution of the sect, he remained loyal to the sect, and by extension, loyal to Jin Mu-Won. After the dissolution of the Northern Heavenly Sect, he worked as a wandering merchant and would do his best to bring supplies for Jin during Jin's adolescent years in the ruined Northern Heavenly Sect, and also helped Jin with supplies during Jin's time, training in the Jeokam mountains.. Post timeskip, he is seen working as a merchant and bodyguard with the White Dragon Merchant Troupe.

Hwang-Cheol is a very loyal man. He never forgot the kindness shown by Jin Kwan-Ho and did his best to repay it. He is also genuinely affectionate towards Jin Mu-Won and is constantly worried about him. Hwang also always made sure to keep a check on Jin Mu-Won and always checked up on Jin's well being. Hwang also makes sure to honor any promises he makes.

Background[]

Hwang-Cheol as a young boy, was a lonely orphan who didn't have much talent in martial arts. Every Sect he tried to join rejected him for this reason. The Northern Heavenly Sect took him in and 4th Generation Sect Leader, Jin Kwan-Ho did everything he could to train Hwang-Cheol in the basics of martial arts so that he could at least protect his own body. Hwang-Cheol never forgot this kindness and for this reason, remained loyal to the Sect and Jin Mu-Won long after everyone else had left.
